Hotel Pro Forma

War Sum Up

Cheered in all the international stages since almost thirty years, the Danish company Hotel Pro Forma is an international laboratory for visual arts and performance, where architecture plays an important part regarding scenography. Each production comes from a narrow collaboration between professionals from many different disciplines : numerical and visual arts, architecture, music, cinema, literature, science and video. War Sum Up stages the armed conflicts madness through actors, singers and musicians with an extraordinary depth. In a universe inspired by the Theatre Nô and Japanese cartoons – mangas – the Soldier, the Spy, the Warrior, tree emblematic war characters depict a world where Humans, machines, electronic are inextricably mixed up. In a continually production system, the living bodies and the image merge. Twelve singers, a scenography playing with world of video games and a thoroughly mastered creativity, make from the opera-manga, imbued with pop esthetic, an XL size spectacle which makes us face the cloudy violence of our fascinations. Contemporary masterpiece, War Sum Up imposes itself as a skyrocketing incantation of the war, an opera for peace.
